FDA warns of new risks of prescription drug injury or death from antidepressant Norpramin

by Dane Johnson

Norpramin (desipramine hydrochloride) is a tricyclic antidepressant used to treat symptoms of depression. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) has announced that patients who have a family history of sudden death, cardiac dysrhythmias, and cardiac conduction disturbances should take Norpramin only with extreme caution. Some patients taking the drug may experience seizures preceding cardiac dysrhythmias and death.

Serious side effects often lead to medication recalls. Unfortunately, the news that a prescription drug may cause complications and even death may not come until after millions of patients have taken it. If you or loved ones have suffered serious personal injury or wrongful death because of a defective or dangerous drug, you have the right to hold the drug manufacturer responsible.
